Visiting Assistant or Associate Director of Development

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seeks a full-time Visiting Assistant or Associate Director of Development to secure private support for the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts. This visiting position may become a regular academic professional position in the future. The Visiting Assistant/Associate Director of Development reports to the Director of Development and serves as a member of the advancement team for the Center and has primary responsibility for coordinating all aspects of the annual fund program and Loop activities utilizing innovative thinking, visionary leadership, and dedicated teamwork to significantly expand the base of support for the Center.
Responsibilities
- Write, design, edit and execute targeted communications to support annual funds and Loop membership, including direct mail and telemarketing campaigns.
- Envision, develop, implement and grow all aspects of the annual fund campaign, including the Loop membership.
- Utilize the FACTS database to expand the donor base and strengthen donor relations.
- Research and expand marketing and development initiatives that identify and reach new audiences and prospective donors, and upgrade current donors.
- Assist the Director of Development with all aspects of the Krannert Center Advancement Council, the Marquee Circle, Corporate Circuit, and Sponsorship stewardship.
- Research grant funding opportunities and assist the grants team with all aspects of grant proposals and reports as appointed.
- Collaborate with the advancement team to envision, execute, and attend development cultivation and stewardship events including performances, pre-concert and post-concert receptions, and special events.
- Collaborate with Outreach Director to create a structured volunteer program to assist with other aspects of development efforts.
- Promote arts advocacy through interaction with federal and state elected officials to encourage their positive involvement in arts legislation.
- Collaborate with marketing and engagement teams to plan and execute a Krannert Center development presence at expos, conferences, community events, etc.
Required Qualifications
- Candidate must have at least a Bachelor’s degree with an advanced degree preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of professional fundraising or related experience in a business, not-for-profit, or University setting.
- A passion and knowledge of the performing arts are essential.
- Demonstrated competence in written and verbal communication.
- High level organization and detail management skills
- Ability to work independently to meet deadlines, solve problems creatively, and contribute to a team-oriented environment.
